I was born in 1978 in Fusternberg,
the most beautiful quarter of the city of Wesel.
In 1997, I finished school with secondary-school final examinations
(ger. Abitur). But before I was able to go to the university, I
had to do a 13 month civil service (ger. Zivildienst).
In 1998 I started to study physics and one year later philosophy.
Additionally I had a job as a quality assurance assistant for computer
games. That was for the well-known companies
Blue Byte and Ubisoft
(you probably know them for games like The
Settlers; or "Battle Isle"). But I broke it all up
in 2002 to become a trainee IT specialist (ger. Fachinformatiker).
I finished that in 2004 and I worked one more year in the IT business.
I was lucky to work a month in L.A. for Neversoft,
a developer studio working for Activision.
But I was a little bored from all that computer stuff. That´s
way I decided to take a new challenge at the
University of Duisbug and Essen in 2005 by coming back to my
old subjects, physics and philosophy, but this time with the intention
to become a teacher. Therefore I also studied educational science
and the basics of German language didactics (click
here for more). In 2009 I did the 1. State examination. During
that time I also taught computer basics in a few courses at the
VHS-Essen.
In those courses I have worked with students, who were more than
50 years old. It was a great chance to help them improve their computer
skills, like e-mail or photo editing.
Since 2009 I am doing a professional teacher training that will
end with the 2. State examination in the summer of 2011. My current
school is the Bettine-von
Arnim Gesamtschule in Langenfeld.
